Surmmer Learning Journey ( Week 3 day 2 A3)

Hidden Figures


Hi Friends today I'm going to talk about Ada Lovelace and Katherine Johnson. Ada Lovelace was the first computer programmer. She figured out instructions that a machine could use to solve difficult maths questions. Katherine Johnson was a brilliant mathematician who worked with NASA. Katherine’s job was to check all of the maths that the engineers and astronauts used when designing the spacecraft and flying them into space. Katherine had to learn how to code when NASA started using computers. Now I'm going to do some facts about Ada Lovelace and Katherine Johnson.

1. Ada Lovelace was born in 10 Dec in 1815.

2. Katherine Johnson was born in 26 Aug in 1918.

3. They were both smart Womens.

Those are some facts about Ada Lovelace and Katherine Johnson. Now I'm going to do something that the SLJ told me to do is On your blog, post a screenshot of your completed shape. Underneath the shape tell us what you thought of the coding app. Is it good? Why/why not? Here is mine.


I thing this coding app is good because it's good for measurement. That's why I think that the coding app is good.

Overcoming Adversity

Hi Friends today I'm going to talk about Stephen Hawking.Stephen Hawking was an English scientist who studied the origin (beginning) of the universe. When he was young, he was diagnosed with Motor Neuron Disease and slowly lost the ability to walk and talk. He needed to use a wheelchair to move around and a computer to help him to talk. Now I'm going to do some facts about Stephen Hawking.

1. He was born in 8 Jan in 1942.

2.His full name is Stephen William Hawking.

3.Stephen Hawking have 3 children.

Those are some facts about Stephen Hawking.Now I'm going to do something that the SLJ told me to do is to recount a time when you, or someone you know, experienced a challenge and overcame it. Here is mine.

I had a friend in Sri Lanka that she got to do a interview in Japanese. But she didn't know how to speak japanese so she learned hardly so she passed interviwe very well. She got a scholarship to go Japan for 2 weeks. I proud of her.

CRACKING THE CODE


Hi Friends today I'm going to talk about Famous scientists. Some people have changed what we know about the world and about how it works. We often call these people ‘scientists’ or ‘theorists.’ Famous scientists include Sir Isaac Newton, Charles Darwin, Albert Einstein, Katherine Freese, Maria Goeppert Mayer and Sau Lan WuEach of these scientists came up with a new theory (idea) about how things work. Sorry I'm not going to do some facts.

Now I'm going to do something that the SLJ told me to do is to describe the painting in detail.

Surmmer Learning Journey ( week 3 day 1 A3)

 Apple vs Microsoft



Hi Friends today I'm going to talk about Apple vs Microsoft. Bill Gates is the founder of Microsoft. He is now one of the richest people in the world. He has a charity called The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation which helps a lot of people.
Steve Jobs was the co-founder of Apple. He invented the Apple computer, iPod, iPhone, and iPad. Sadly, he passed away in 2011. Both men were very clever inventors of new technology. They were also competitors or rivals. Now I'm going to do some facts about Apple and Microsoft.

1.  Apple came out in 1 April 1976, Cupertino, California, United States.

2. Microsoft came out in 4 April 1975, Albuquerque, New Mexico, United States.

3.3 people made Apple.

4.2 people made Microsoft.

Those are some facrs about Apple and Microsoft. Now I'm going to do something that the SLJ told me to do is to find two more examples of rivalries. They can be in sport or other areas.

Hi Friends today I'm going to talk about YouTube. You guys probably know of YouTube - it’s where you can watch, create, share and comment on videos.Anyone can have their own YouTube channel. People who create videos and post them on YouTube are called ‘YouTubers’. Youtubers post videos about music, make-up, fitness, cooking and lots of other things. In New Zealand, there are many Youtubers, including Kiwi beauty YouTuber Miria Flavell and guitar guru, Nat Pua. Now I'm going to do some facts about YouTube.

1.YouTube came out in 14 Feb in 2005 in San Mateo, California, United States.

2.The first person who fimiled is Jawed Karim.

3. YouTube was created because they want to put facts.

Those are some facts about YouTube. Now I'm going to do something that SLJ told me to do is to Imagine that you had the chance to create your own YouTube channel. What would it be about? What kinds of videos would you create and post? Here is mine.

Hi Guys today I'm going to talk about Tim Berners-Lee. You may not have heard of Tim Berners-Lee but this man invented the World Wide Web! All of the information on the internet is stored and accessed on the web. TimBL, as he is known, also created the first ever website. Cool right?!Now I'm going to do some facts about Tim Berners- Lee.

1. Tim Berners- Lee was born in 8 June in 1955.

2. He have 2 childrens.

3. Tim Berners-Lee made the first communication between an HTTP (Hypertest Transfer Protocol) client and server through the internet in November 1989.

He is the Prime Minister of New Zealand and leader of the National Party, having taken office on 12 December 2016. He was Deputy Prime Minister from 2008 to 2016. Now I'm going to do some facts about Bill English.

2. He have 6 childrens.

3. Bill English's full name is Sir Simon William English.

Leading by Example

Hi Friends today I'm going to talk about Mother Teresa and Princess Diana. Mother Teresa was born in Eastern Europe. When she was young, she decided that she wanted to be a missionary. She moved to India where she worked hard and cared for those who needed her the most. Diana was a real-life princess. As she travelled the world, she helped everyone to see that all people, including those affected by illness and disease, needed love and respect. Now I'm going to do some facts about Mother Teresa and Princess Diana.

1. Princess Diana was born in 1 July in 1961.

2. Mother Teresa was born in 26 Aug 1910.

3. Princess Diana and Mother Teresa both led by example with acts of kindness towards others.

HUMANITARIAN HEROES


Hi Friends today I'm going to talk about Emergency Services. Emergency Services help people in New Zealand and around the world. Sometimes they have to risk their lives to help others. Here is some Emergency Services.
Fire ServicePolice ForceAmbulance ServiceSearch and RescueAir AmbulanceCivil DefenceCoast Guard and Surf Lifesaving.  In Australia, Fire Services are currently fighting more than 150 wildfires burning in New South Wales. It is a very dangerous time for the men and women fighting these fires in Australia and a very scary time for the people who live close to the fires. Now I'm going to do some facts about Emergency Services.

1. In 1958, the first national training school for firefighters was established.

2. On 29 September 1958, the first 111 emergency telephone service was introduced

Those were the facts I know about Emergency Services. Now I'm going to do something from the SLJ they told me to do is brainstorm five ways we could help the people who are affected by the fires in New South Wales. You could think of ways to raise money, things to send them, or ways to keep them feeling positive. Here is mine

Wise Words


Hi Friends to day I'm going to talk about Sir Āpirana Ngata and Dame Whina Cooper. Sir Āpirana Ngata was a lawyer and politician. He worked hard for many years to improve life for Māori people.Dame Whina Cooper worked on improving health, education, housing and welfare for Māori women. She led the Māori land hikoi (march) from Northland to Wellington to protest against the loss of Māori land. Now I'm going to do some facts about Sir Apirana Ngata and Dama Whina Cooper.

1. Sir Apirana Ngata was born in 3 July in 1874.

2.  Dame Whina Cooper was born in 9 December 1895.

3. Both of these people are examples of wise, inspiring leaders and role models.

Those were the facts I know about Sir Āpirana Ngata and Dame Whina Cooper. Now I'm going to do something from the SLJ told me to do is was think of someone in your life who is a role model to you. This could be a parent, grandparent, neighbour, minister, imam, rabbi etc. Please ask them to share one piece of wisdom (advice) with you. This is mine.

My role models are my friends cause when I got a problem they help and they also they help me with me work so they are my role models.

Celebrating Diversity

Hi friends today I'm going to talk about 370 and 500 million Indigenous Peoples.  370 and 500 million Indigenous Peoples living in the world. They represent over 5000 different cultures and speak 4000 different languages. Amazing!Indigenous Peoples is the term used to describe the people who were the first inhabitants of a land. In Aotearoa, Māori are Indigenous. Indigenous people have rich and vibrant cultures that make the world a fascinating and varied place to live.Today I'm not doing any facts because their is none facts about it so I'm doing the activity.

The SLJ told me to do is On your blog tell us the names of the two groups that interest you and then tell us at least two facts about each group. This is mine.

I chose Ainu People and Maya People
2 facts about Ainu people.

1. This northern island of Japan is home to the indigenos Ainu people.
2. The Ainu language was forbidden and the people were force to speak Japanese.

2 facts about Maya people

1. They have to speak thirty Maya languages despite differences words like son time mother.
2. Their languages share a common linguistic origin and because these words convey the very essence.

 INDIGENOUS RIGHTS

Guiding Principles 

Hi Friends today I'm going to talk about 
Hōne Heke. Hōne Heke was a rangatira (chief). He was a strong, fearless warrior, and an intelligent leader. Hōne Heke was the first rangatira to sign Te Tiriti o Waitangi (the Treaty of Waitangi) in 1840.However he got frustrated and angry at how the British were treating the Māori. To protest, he cut down the flagpole that flew the British flag. Now I'm going to do some facts about Hōne Heke.

1. He have 2 childrens.

2. Hōne Heke's Parents are  Te Kona, Tupanapana.

3.Hōne Heke's full name is Hōne Wiremu Heke Pōka.

Those are the facts I know about Hōne Heke. Now I'm going to do something that the SLJ told me to do is to Look at the whakataukī in this document and choose one that you like. Create a poster to share the whakataukī. Include at least one image (a drawing or photograph) on the poster. This is mine.

Belle of the Bal

Hi Friends today I'm going to talk about Emma Watsom. Emma Watson is an actor. She was Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter films and ‘Belle’ in Beauty and the Beast. Emma also spends a lot of time giving speeches about the rights of women and girls. She thinks that males (men/boys) and females (women/girls) should have the same (equal) rights and opportunities. Emma loves reading and she started her own book club! Now I'm going to do some facts about Emma Watsom.

1. She was born in 15 April in 1990.

2. Her full name is Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson.

3. She have 4 siblings.

The Right to an Education

Hi Friends to day I'm going to talk about Malala Yousafzai. Malala Yousafzai is from Pakistan. In 2012, she was shot at when traveling home from school. Back then, girls living in Pakistan were not allowed to go to school. Many people believe that Malala was attacked because she did not agree with this idea.Once Malala got better, she fought for the rights of all women and girls to be able to go to school. She was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize - the youngest person to ever receive this prize. Now I'm going to do some facts about Malala Yousafzai.

1. She is a Muslim.

2. Malala Yousafzai was born in 12 July in 1997.

3. Malala was named after a famous Afghani poet and warrior named Malalai of Maiwand.
Those were the facts I know about Malala Yousafzai. Now I'm going to do something from the SLJ they told me to do is to write a short story that you wish. Here is my story.





first day being a surgeon. 

Tomorrow is my first day being a surgeon. I'm kind of nervous to be a surgery, Oh well I wiil try my best. The Next Day, I came to the Hospital and then a lady came to me and that lady said hi to me and I said hi to her. She told me that you are the newest surgery and I said yes I'm the newest surgery. The lady said that you can got to the doctor so you Know what to do. So I said ok and they I let and then I saw doctor.The doctor said hi to me and then I said hi to her. When the doctor gave me the tools I need I ask the doctor do I have a patient and then the doctor said YES and I felt nervous again. So I went to the patient he said that his not feeling well with his heart  so I ask the nurse If I can have the report they said yes so I got them and then I got to work and then I left him along and I so him next day he felt happy and then I ask his why are you happy then the patient said I feeling better so I felt happy as well.

That was my story.

Womens Right

Hi guys today I'm going to talk about Kate Sheppard. Kate Sheppard was a very important New Zealander because she helped to get women the right to vote.
Women in NZ were first allowed to vote in 1893. This made NZ the first country in the world to give women the right to vote. We call this right ‘women’s suffrage’.
To remember Kate Sheppard’s role in giving women the vote, her image on our $10 note. Now I'm going to do some facts about Kate Sheppard.
1. Kate Sheppard was born in 10 March in 1847.
2.  She have 1 sister and a 1 children.
3. Kate Sheppard Parents are Jemima Crawford Souter, Andrew Wilson Malcolm.
Those are the facts I know about Kate Sheppard. Now I'm going to something from the SLJ they told me to do is  Imagine that the government has decided to create a new $10 bank note. They want to replace Kate with a picture of a different NZ woman. We had to tell who you think should be put on the new $10 note. We have to provide it with a picture of the amazing woman and explain why you think she should be chosen. this is mine.
I think it should be Marie Curie because she was a physicist and chemist. She was the first women to win a nobel prize and she became the first person to clam nobel honors twice. Because she had already discovered the elements radium and polonium. 
Thats why I think she should be the women.

I Have A Dream

Hi guys today I'm going to talk about Martin Luther King Jr and Rosa Park. Martin Luther was a civil rights activist in the United States of America (USA). USA had laws that kept black and white people separated. This was called ‘segregation.’ He also wanted everyone to be treated equally. Rosa Park was another American civil rights activist. She is most famous for refusing to give up her seat on a bus to a white passenger. You can read about this here and watch a video about Rosa Parks here. Now I'm going to do more facts about Martin Luther King Jr and Rosa Park.

1. Rosa Park was born in 4 Feb in 1913.

2. Martin Luther King Jr was born in 15 Jan in 1929.

3. Martin Luther King, Jr. didn't just become the leader of the civil right movement: He also helped to start it.

4. Rosa Park wasn't the first black woman who refused to give up her seat.

Those were the facts I know about Martin Luther King Jr and Rosa Park. Now I'm going to do something from the SLJ they told me to do is to tell the problem and solution that Rosa Parks had. Here is my one.

Rose Park was born in 4 Feb in 1913. She was normal kid as you guys, when she was little older her parents decided they would not be together anymore. So Rosa moved with her mother, they moved to Pine Level, Alabama where they stayed with her granparents. Living with her gradparents allowed Rosa to see people do mean things African Americans, but it also showed her how to be strong! Like one day her grandfather protected their farm from a group of men called the Ku Kulx Klan. When it came school things were not fair either. As a child the schools Rosa went to were segregated. She also left school in the 11th grade to help her sick mom and grandmother. Dring this time in Montgomery, Alabama the local buses were also seregated. She also have to be arrested.

That was the story.
