Mae Jemison
Hi Guys today I'm going to talk about Mae Jemison. Mae Jemison moved to Chicago at age three. Her brother and sisters are Charlie, Dorothy, Ada, and Charles Jemison. She graduated high school at the age of 16. She studied at Stanford University on a scholarship. There she got a Bachelor of Science in chemical engineering in 1977. As she had been in high school, Jemison was very involved in extracurricular activities at Stanford. These included dance and theater productions. She was also the head of the Black Student union. Now I'm going to do some facts about Mae Jemison.
1.Mae Jemison was born in October 17, 1956.
2.Mae Jemison faced many roadblocks to her dreams of pursuing science.
3. Mae Jemison is a trained dancer -- she built a dance studio in her home and even brought a poster from her dance school on her space mission.
Those are some facts about Mae Jemison. Now I'm going to do something that the SLJ told me to do is to tell us:
- The name of the person.
- A sentence about the work they do/have done.
- A sentence about how they/their work has had an impact on the lives of others. Here is mine.
Her name is Mae Jemison.
She have been working as a American engineer, physician, and former NASA astronaut.
She had a impact of being the first black woman to travel in space when she served as a mission specialist aboard the Space Shuttle Endeavour.
Thank you for reading my blog post.
Bye by Izumi.
I really like your blog post.
ReplyDeleteAta Mārie Izumi,
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on making it to the end of week 3! You only have one more week of activities left before you finish the programme. You should be so proud of yourself :)
I really like that you have chosen to write about Mae Jemison for this weeks “choose your own activity”. I have never heard about her so I enjoyed learning a little bit about her today, I think it is so cool that she was the first black woman to travel to space!
Did you know that she was only 16 when she started studying chemical engineering at Stanford University?
What made you want to read/ learn about Mae?
