Surmmer Learning Journey ( Week 3 day 3 A2)

Printing Prosthetics

Hi Guys today I'm going to talk about Chuck Hull. Chuck Hull invented the first 3D printer. A 3D printer prints out a design in layers from a computer. They often use a material like plastic. 3D printing has changed the way we design and create things. It is possible to 3D print parts for machines, buildings and even humans! If you have ever broken an arm and needed a plaster cast you will know that they’re not much fun to wear - especially in summer! A NZ man called Jake Evill has designed a lighter 3D printed cast that is strong, recyclable, waterproof, and ventilated (let’s air in.) Now I'm going to do some facts about Chuck Hull.

1. Chuck Hull was born in May in 1939.

2. He also have 1 sibling.

3. In 1980 he invent the 3d printer.

Those are some facts about Chuck Hull. Now I'm going to do something that the SLJ told me to do is On your blog, tell your readers:
  1. One thing that you learned from watching this video.
  2. One thing that surprised you when watching this video. This is mine.

I leaened that 3D printer can make artificial body parts.

I was surprised Modern Prosthetica can cost tens of thousanda of dollars for a body parts.

Thank you for reading my blog  post.
Bye by Izumi.

  1. Good Morning Izumi

Ka pai for sharing the information about what you learned and what surprised you from watching the video about 3-D printers in relation to printing prosthetics.

Thank you for also sharing some information about Chuck Hall. I really like how you share some facts you have gathered about the activities before you respond, it helps to understand what you’re blogging about each day.

I was also very shocked to learn how much the prosthetics can cost, but even more shocked that they also make artificial hearts!

Did you know very much about 3-D printing or prosthetics before you did this activity today?

    Have a lovely Wednesday!
    Kueni.
